29 Aug 08 Mats Sundin to wait until the season begins

HockeyGiant.com
Mats Sundin agent told the press that Mats needed more time to think about his future in the NHL. The 37 year old wants to make sure he really wants to play in the NHL next season. As of now, he didn’t make a decision yet. What is going to happen with Mat Sundin. The leading teams in the race if he decides to return to play are the Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks and the New York Rangers. I doubt that any other team would be able to land Sundin. The detroit red wings have already went public and to  ld the press that they gave up in the Sundin’s case.

27 Jun 08 Jaromir Jagr to test the free agents market

jaromir-jagr.jpgNew York Rangers all-star player Jaromir Jagr might test the free market on July first. The discussion with the New-York Rangers are drawing dead. The talks have stop. Jagr would be ready to listen to what other teams has to say. He could also leave for Russia. There is a team there that is very interested in his service and they are ready to pay a lot of money.

26 Jun 08 Jose Theodore to test de free agent market

Jose TheodoreJose Theodore of the Colorado avalanche will test the free agent market. The negotiation has stopped with the Colorado Avalanche. Staying in Colorado is not out of the question his agent said, but he will take the time to see what the other teams has to offer.  Theodore at 31 years old seem to have regain his confidence last season. He finished with a 28-21-3 record with a GAA of 2.44 which is quite respectable. I am the first one to think that his carreer was over when Petr Boudaj took is place as number one goalie in 2006-2006. I think Theodore will get some offers around the league for sure. He is still young when you think Martin Brodeur is 36. Theodore could still be in net for a few years and help a team get to the stanley cup.

25 Jun 08 The Toronto Maple Leafs maybe buying out Darcy Tucker’s contract

Hockey Giant

I tdarcy-tucker.jpghink that the Toronto Maple leafs are making a mistake to buy out Tucker’s contract. It will cost them 1 million for the next 6 years which will be dead cap space. Can they afford this? I don’t think so… I think Darcy Tucker can still help the team a lot. If it is not with the Toronto Maple Leafs, it will be with another team. He still has his place in the NHL. I love this player. He’s got average skills and he is a pest. I love it!

25 Jun 08 The latest on the Montreal Canadiens trade development

Bet now with totesport

Alex Tanguay with the habs

alex-tanguay.jpgThe Montreal has improved their overall forward offensive production with the acquisition of Alex Tanguay. I think Alex Tanguay will be a better fit with Montral then Clagary Flames. Montreal is a more finesse and speed team. Calagary was more of a bang and crash hockey team so i think Montreal will be a way better fit for Alex Tanguay. The guy is a 80 point a year kind of player. Montreal needed a good top line left winger and that is what they got with Alex. In the same time they just reinforced the’re third line.

 Latest on Mats Sundin

mat-sundin.jpgMats Sundin said to the press that he was not in a hurry to sign a new contract as he is not sure yet if he is going to retire or play for another year. He is going to test the free agent market to see what are is options. The teams interested in Sundin are Montreal, NY Rangers and of course the Toronto Maple Leafs. Montreal had the exclusive rights to negociate with theToronto Maple Leafs centerman. Bob Gainey was on the phone with him but was not able to cut a deal right away. Montreal would offer Mat a 7.25 to 7.5 million a year for two years contract.

I’ll keep you posted with the latest development regarding Mat Sundin

25 Feb 08 Peter Forsberg signs with the Colorado Avalanche again!

Hockey Giant 2

The wait is finally over. Peter Forsberg finally decided to come back this season. The veteran signed a 5 millions dollar contract and since there is only 19 games left to the season, he will only touch a quarter of that amount. He is now 34 years old and the Colorado Avalanche sur hope he is going to be in great shape for the rest of the season and the playoffs! Another good news for the flyers, Joe Sakic is returning to play after a long time in the stands.

18 Feb 08 Marian Hossa and Martin Havlat to Habs

Hockey Giant 2

A lot of rumours are going around the Internet about Marian Hossa and Martin Havlat. Everywhere they are saying Montreal are trying to land both of them. Why would Montreal do this? They are tied first place in the eastern conference, the team chemistry seems to be at is all time high. Why would a team take a chance to lose this? I know every Montral Canadiens fans would love to see this happen. But would the players like it? It’s not just a matter of having superstars on your team, it’s having a team with guts, good chemistry and players that like to play with each other.

Who would leave Montreal? Do you sacrifice your future for a one-shot deal to the Stanley cup or you look to be in the top of the standings for several years with the relieve they have. I mean they have big decision to take. I leave it to Bob Gainey to decide :P. I would certainly be happy that they trade Ryder tho :P.

Come discuss this subject in our forum!

07 Feb 08 Rob Blake on injured list

Hockey Giant

There has been a lot of talking about Blake being traded before the deadline. The rumours will probably slow down considering the fact that Blake will be out of the play for about two weeks. Blake, the team captain has five foals and 21 assists in 53 games this season. He cracked is left ankle on January 15.  He played the next six games before they diagnosed the fracture.

Here is two videos of crazy hits by Rob Blake

31 Jan 08 Olli Jokinen to Habs, possible!

Hockey Giant 3

The Montreal Canadiens seems to be the front runner for the Jokinen race along with the Buffalo Sabres. Thi is still just a rumour. The Panthers would be asking the Habs two current roster forwards and one defenceman prospects. This would be a great addition to the Habs that are doing pretty good this season. Jokinen has 24 goals 25 assists this season with 48 penalty minutes.
