The Montreal canadiens lost there second straight game against Ovechkin and the Capitals. It was a really good game with back and forth play. Both team missed a lot of opportunities. The game could have went both ways. The capitals scored with almost not time left in the third to get the W.

Alex Tanguay with the habs
The Montreal has improved their overall forward offensive production with the acquisition of Alex Tanguay. I think Alex Tanguay will be a better fit with Montral then Clagary Flames. Montreal is a more finesse and speed team. Calagary was more of a bang and crash hockey team so i think Montreal will be a way better fit for Alex Tanguay. The guy is a 80 point a year kind of player. Montreal needed a good top line left winger and that is what they got with Alex. In the same time they just reinforced the’re third line.
Latest on Mats Sundin
Mats Sundin said to the press that he was not in a hurry to sign a new contract as he is not sure yet if he is going to retire or play for another year. He is going to test the free agent market to see what are is options. The teams interested in Sundin are Montreal, NY Rangers and of course the Toronto Maple Leafs. Montreal had the exclusive rights to negociate with theToronto Maple Leafs centerman. Bob Gainey was on the phone with him but was not able to cut a deal right away. Montreal would offer Mat a 7.25 to 7.5 million a year for two years contract.

12 Feb 08 Season over for Sheldon Souray
Sheldon Souray’s season is finally finished. Souray was operated last week for his left shoulder and he will not return to play this season. Bad news for the Edmonton Oilers who were relying a lot on Sheldon Souray’s power-play performances. The left-handed defense-man signed a 5 year, 27 million contract this summer. Sheldon has already missed 29 games this season. In 26 games he only has 3 goals and seven assists. Not very good stats for a +5 million per seasons.

11 Feb 08 Ottawa Senators makes a big deal with Carolina Hurricanes.
The Ottawa Senators made an important transaction with the Carolina Hurricanes. They acquired the attacker Cory Stillman and the defense-man Mike Commodore for Joe Corvo and Patrick Eaves. Both Commodore and Stillman will be free agents next summer.

11 Feb 08 Ryan O’Byrne and Tom Kostopoulos Arrested
The Montreal Canadiens rookie defense-man Ryan O’Byrne and forward Tom Kostopoulos got arrested Sunday night in Tampa Bay Florida. O’Byrne was seen with a women purse after a women announced the lost of her purse to the security guards of the nightclub. This incident happened after the rookie supper. Several players were present but Kostopoulos insisted the most near the polices offices, and that is what got him to jail. Both were released this morning with a 2000$ bail (O’Byrne) and 500$(Kostopoulos).

10 Feb 08 Richard Zednik Cut on the throat

Richard Zednik, the Florida Panthers forward is in stable state after beeing cut to the throat by is own teammate Ollie Jokinen. He is now at the Buffalo Hospital where he is undergoing a surgical operation. Zednik stayed conscious after the incident but he has lost much blood. They asked the zamboni to clean the ice after the accident because the cut had left long traces of blood on the ice.
On march 22nd 1989, the Buffalo Sabres goaltender Clint Malarchuk had the same kind of accident. Her is the video of the accident. Richard Zednik’s video will be coming soon. Let’s hope Richard will be okay.
